Every motzaei Shabbat, in eight cities

So that everyone can keep Melaveh Malka.

Rebbe Shayele delivers a hot meal to families every motzaei Shabbat, in eight cities across three continents, so that the end of Shabbat stays a celebration. No paperwork, no proof of need, no queue. We ring, we leave the food, we go.

Saturday night

How it works

Four steps, the same in every city, from the order to the last address delivered.

  1. All week

    Families order

Each household orders whenever suits them during the week. No form, no proof of need.

  2. Shabbat ends

    The pizzas are made

A partner pizzeria starts baking the moment Shabbat ends.

  3. + 40 minutes

    Volunteers deliver

Each one takes two or three addresses close to home.

  4. Later that evening

    The mitzvah happens, everywhere

On the same evening, hundreds of people keep Melaveh Malka, across eight cities and three continents.

Portrait of Rav Yeshaya of Kerestir

The Rav

Rav Yeshaya of Kerestir

Born in 1851 in Zboró, then in Hungary and today Zborov in Slovakia, he lost his father at three. At twelve his mother sent him to study with Rav Tzvi Hirsh of Liska, whose gabbai he became. After his teacher's death he attached himself to Rav Chaim of Sanz, then to Rav Mordechai of Nadvorna, who advised him to settle in Bodrogkeresztúr — Kerestir — and to take up the role of rebbe himself.

His house on Kossuth street never closed. People came for a blessing, often just for a roof and a warm meal. He died on 3 Iyar 5685, 27 April 1925, and rests in Kerestir. A century later, his grave is one of the most visited Jewish pilgrimage sites in Europe.

Where we deliver

Our cities

Each city has its coordinator, its pizzeria and its drivers. Everything else is the same everywhere.

Open a city

We give you everything

You bring the will and the knowledge of your city. We bring the rest.

The starter kit

The equipment comes with the city. Nothing to have made, nothing to design.

The starter kit: apron, T-shirt, caps, embroidered caps and cards, all carrying the Rav's portrait.
  • Apron
  • T-shirt
  • Cap
  • Embroidered cap
  • Cards

The tool, for families and for the city

One piece of software on both sides: the family orders, the city cooks, delivers and counts. It arrives set up in your city’s name.

Family side

One order, from start to finish

A walk-through of the app: a family opens their city’s form, builds a first red pizza with olives, then a second white pizza with salmon, adds their door code and places the order. The data is made up.

City side

The city side, tab by tab

A walk-through of the city side: the coordinator sees the evening’s round and its counters, the list of orders, the pizzas to put in the oven, the route to optimise and the settings. Recipients carry no name and their contact details are not shown.

The support

You bring the will and the knowledge of your city. The rest comes with it.

The playbook

Building the family list, picking the pizzeria, working out quantities, setting the timings.

The artwork

Logo, posters, WhatsApp messages and donation page, already in Rebbe Shayele's colours.

Someone to call

A person you can reach through the first weeks, until the city runs on its own.
